11.6.2013

Ok, so I have this idea.  Bear with me now, it’s very controversial.  I mean, I don’t want you to become offended, but just in case you do, please understand, I’m not just trying to be as pretentious as I can, so that I can maybe get some Facebook likes, and in the process, fuck your world up royally.  I’m trying to really create change and hope here.  Ok, so here’s my idea: How about each and every single one of you assholes that thinks that you’ve figured out the secret just stop saying stupid and ignorant shit, because people actually believe you.

Yes, I know that you’re not a doctor.  Yes, I know that you’re not a child-rearing expert, a marriage counselor, a clinical psychologist, or in any possible way qualified to make these general statements.  Yes, I can see through your phoniness.  Yes, I know that you are full of Grade-A self-important horse-shit.  However, the “masses” do not.  You are a shyster (before anyone throws a fit here, there is no proof that this word is offensive, sorry), selling your idiomatic Snake Oil, but instead of cash, your racket is pseudo-fame, internet popularity.  You are disgusting, and I want you to know that.  However, and I’ll be fair here, in the interest of disclosure, I am ALSO looking for views, but my goal is altruistic.  I don’t care about my message getting anywhere except for the small percentage of the population that feels as though they are somehow superior to everyone else, and they have an entitlement to convince everyone else how to live their lives.  If you are NOT writing these blogs, then by all means, feel free to skip reading the rest.

The greatest sin of all in your barely coherent ramblings is the evident air of mock humility.  As you are writing your blog, you are PRAYING that the millions see it.  That it becomes a viral message, spread across the Twitterverse and the Facebook Walls of the many.  What you consider innocent “Like” whoring is decimating our country, a little at a time.  You may not be familiar with the name “Dunning–Kruger effect” but you are living examples of those that exploit it.  In general terms, there is a correlation between ignorance or incompetence and confidence, and knowledge or competence and self-doubt.   One of the more endearing qualities in modern times is humility, a trait that you lack as evidenced by these writings.  It would seem, therefore, to be a correlation between your lack of self-doubt and your smarmy terribly constructed condescending articles.

To be fair, no one is perfect, and I, of all people understand that.  I generally hide my self-doubt behind walls of bravado, arrogance, and attitude.  That doesn’t change the fact that, when presented with a subject that I requires internal reflection, I openly admit that I am beyond my ability.  And I certainly wouldn’t decide at that point to begin telling everyone else that I had the secret to life locked up in my brain, and for the price of some Google AdSense impressions, I will share it.

This entire blog post is a complete hypocritical piece of garbage.  I know this.  I admit it.  But there is no other way that I could express just how disappointed I am in today’s internet culture.  By now, we were supposed to be able to block this shit out.  To be able to find this hucksters and flay them figuratively online, to prevent the barely computer literate people that accidentally stumble upon these from believing that they are truth.  Maybe my complacency and others’ as well are to blame.  I don’t know.  But we live in 2013 right now, and if it were up to these traditionalists, we probably wouldn’t have indoor plumbing, either.
Leave living to the people doing it.  Stop trying to spread false information under the guise of “expertise.”  Start caring about other people on this Earth instead of just trying to make them live the way that you found out works.  And finally, stop trying to pretend that you aren’t attempting to be the Motivational Master in these areas.  The only thing that can possibly be worse than unjustified arrogance and self-confidence is faux-humility.

Anyway, that's just my opinion.
